About the Win Either Half Market
Win Either Half Predictions — How the Market Works and How We Select Our Tips
Win either half is one of football's more forgiving betting markets — and one of the most underused. Rather than requiring a team to win the full match, the market only needs the selected team to score more goals than their opponent in at least one of the two 45-minute periods. A 1–0 first half followed by a 1–1 second half is a winning result. A 0–1 first half followed by a 2–0 second half is also a winning result. The final score is irrelevant.
How Win Either Half Works
The market is offered on one team per fixture — typically the favourite or the home side — and the bet wins if that team scores more goals than their opponent in the first half, the second half, or both. The phrasing varies slightly by bookmaker: "win either half", "to win a half", "win one half" — all refer to the same market. If the selected team's goals exactly equal their opponent's in both halves (both periods draw), the bet loses.
Because you are effectively getting two chances instead of one, win either half carries significantly higher probability than a straight match result. A team with a 65% probability of winning the match might have an 88–92% probability of winning either half — particularly if they are a dominant home side with high scoring rates across both periods.
How We Select Win Either Half Tips
Our selection process uses three primary data layers. First, the team's win either half rate in home or away games separately — not combined, since home and away performances differ substantially. Second, first-half and second-half goal averages — a team that typically scores early is more likely to win the first half, while a team with strong second-half pressing will lean toward winning the second. Third, the opponent's defensive record split by half — a weak second-half defensive record is particularly useful when the selected team makes substitutions that shift momentum.
A pick qualifies for this page when the team's win either half rate in the relevant venue setting (home or away) exceeds 80% and is backed by at least two supporting statistical factors. Picks with rates below 80% do not qualify regardless of other factors.
Win Either Half vs Related Markets
Three half-based markets are available on 90Predict. The Half-Time Result page predicts which team is winning at the 45-minute mark — one chance, one period. The HT/FT page predicts both the half-time result and the full-time result as a combination — higher odds, harder to win. Win either half sits between the two: easier than HT/FT (you only need one half, not a specific combination), more flexible than the half-time result (you have two halves to land).
For accumulator builders, win either half legs typically return lower odds than 1X2 but with meaningfully higher individual hit rates — making them attractive anchor legs in longer multibets.
